Work on the Lafigué project in the north-central part of Ivory Coast is expected to start in December 2023 and last for 60 months.

Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil announced on Monday that it had signed a mining contract in Ivory Coast with Endeavour Mining worth US$600 million (about €568.4 million).

In a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Mota-Engil said that its subsidiary’s mining work for the African region includes “mine development, shaft drainage, excavation, drilling, blasting, loading and transport of ore and waste rock”.

Work on the Lafigué project in the north-central part of Ivory Coast is expected to start in December 2023 and last for 60 months.

The Lafigué project is located approximately 500 kilometres from the Ivorian economic capital, Abidjan, at the northern end of the Oumé-Fetekro green massif, and near the village of Lafigué.

“This award means the group continues to strengthen its order book by adding another important medium and long-term contract,” the construction company said in the statement.
