Train operator gets six tenders to supply 117 new trains
CP announced that the Chinese company CRRC Tangshan, the Japanese company Hitachi Rail and the Swiss company Stadler, via Stadler Rail Valencia, had submitted candidatures.
Incumbent train operator CP – Comboios de Portugal announced on Monday it had received six applications for the tender to acquire 117 railcars for regional and suburban services, presented by three companies and three consortiums and including European, Chinese and Japanese manufacturers.
In a statement, CP said that the Chinese company CRRC Tangshan, the Japanese company Hitachi Rail and the Swiss company Stadler, via Stadler Rail Valencia, had submitted candidatures.
The consortium applications came from groups made up of France’s Alstom Transporte, Bombardier Transportation Portugal (owned by Alstom) and Portugal’s Domingos da Silva Teixeira (DST); another group that includes the manufacturing unit and the engineering unit of the Spanish CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles and CAF Turnkey & Engineering); and a group made up of Spain’s Patentes Talgo and Germany’s Siemens Mobility.
According to CP, “the jury will now analyse the applications with a view to their qualification, and all candidates that meet the technical and financial capacity requirements laid down in the procedure will be admitted to the next phase.
The decision on qualification will be taken within 44 working days of 15 February, the deadline for submitting applications.
According to CP, the candidates that are admitted “will be invited to submit proposals to supply 117 trains and build a rolling stock maintenance workshop.
