Pedro Nuno Santos said on Tuesday that Portugal "will lose centrality in the aviation business" if the TAP restructuring plan is not approved by Brussels.

Portugal’s minister for infrastructure and housing, Pedro Nuno Santos, said on Tuesday that Portugal “will lose centrality in the aviation business” if the TAP restructuring plan is not approved by Brussels, something that would lead to the closure of the airline, he said.

Pedro Nuno Santos, speaking on the sidelines of the specifications for the 117 new CP railcars in Matosinhos, said that Portugal’s hub would be in Madrid without TAP.

“We are talking about the only airline operating in Portugal with a hub that flies to Brazil, the US, Africa and distributes to the rest of Europe,” he said.
