The founding leader of Mercedes-Benz.io, Alexandre Vaz, is leaving the company’s general management.

After nearly five years leading Mercedes-Benz.io in Lisbon, Alexandre Vaz is leaving the general management of the project. So far it has not been possible to obtain information from the company about a possible successor for Alexandre Vaz’s position.

“On May 2nd 2017, I was the single member of Mercedes-Benz Digital Hub in Lisbon. As I entered the office on that first day, I sat, by myself, thinking about the challenge ahead – to launch a Hub for Mercedes-Benz, in Lisbon, focused on the development of the digital platforms of marketing and sales. Four and a half years later, Mercedes-Benz.io in Lisbon has a team of more than 250 people, the double of what was the initial plan, and has a broad scope of skills and responsibilities that go way beyond what was defined in 2017. It has now arrived the time for me to move on. I leave Mercedes-Benz.io more experienced, wiser and knowledgeable. That is all due to the amazing people I have had the privilege to work with,” he announced on LinkedIn.

The changes in the German car brand’s tech hub management come at a time when a process of strengthening the team is underway. In June, the hub announced its intention to recruit 100 employees by the end of the year.
