Portugal’s incumbent rail operator CP – Comboios de Portugal has announced that, due to the strike, on Friday there could be “major disruptions” in the circulation of trains nationwide between 00:00 and 24:00.

“The impact on circulation could also extend to the end of October 7 [today] and the early morning hours of October 9, 2021 [Saturday],” it added.

In this context, the Court of Arbitration of the Economic and Social Council has decreed minimum services that involve running around 25% of the total train supply, according to information available at cp.pt.

Customers who “have already purchased tickets to travel on Alfa Pendular, Intercity, Interregional and Regional trains will be allowed a refund of the total value of the ticket, or its revalidation, free of charge.”

CP regrets the inconvenience caused to its customers, recommending passengers to obtain information on the state of circulation of trains, by contacting the company’s information channels.

Fectrans and other trade unions have called a strike of CP and IP workers for Friday, with the main demand being wage increases.

The hiring of workers, measures for the “harmonisation of work rules in CP and IP” and “a timetable for negotiation of the revision of collective bargaining” are other points they demand a response to.
