This contract, which will avoid estimated annual emissions of over 130 thousand tons of CO2, is linked to two renewable energy projects that will come into operation in 2023.

EDP Renováveis (EDPR) has secured 15-year Power Purchase Agreements for 127.5 MW with Procter & Gamble (P&G), according to a statement sent by the Portuguese company to CMVM on Thursday.

This contract, which will avoid estimated annual emissions of over 130 thousand tons of CO2, is linked to two renewable energy projects (one wind farm and one solar park) that will come into operation in 2023.

These new energy projects will be located in Peñaflor (Valladolid), with 100 MWac of installed capacity, and Sierra de la Venta (Albacete), with an installed capacity of 47.5 MW (27.5 MW secured under this PPA with P&G, while the remaining 20 MW were already secured through a PPA announced in May 2021).

With this new agreement, EDPR has now 0.6 GW of capacity secured in Spain set to enter in operation from 2021 onwards.

The company led by Miguel Stilwell also reveals that “securing new PPAs reinforces its growth strategy based on the development of competitive projects with a low-risk profile, fostering the acceleration of the energy transition and the decarbonization of the economy.”
