Christine Ourmières-Widener says TAP will vote at Groundforce's creditors' meeting for a proposal that guarantees a "bright future" for the handling company.

Groundforce’s creditors’ meeting is already next week and the subject came up at Christine Ourmières-Widener’s hearing in Parliament. The CEO of TAP says she will support “all scenarios that confirm a bright future” for the company.

“TAP supported Groundforce in tough times, ensuring that all workers were paid their salaries,” she began, recalling that imaginative solutions were used to make ends meet, even bypassing the main shareholder, Alfredo Casimiro.

“Groundforce is strategic for TAP because it handles our hub. We want it to be a strong and efficient company,” the CEO added, guaranteeing that the airline will be “a strong supporter of all scenarios that confirm a bright future” for the company.

Groundforce was declared insolvent on August 4 in a process requested by TAP. The airline is the second-largest creditor after ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal. Both will be decisive in approving the viability plan to be presented by the insolvency managers at the creditors’ meeting scheduled for September 22.

Christine Ourmières-Widener was heard in a session on Tuesday afternoon of a committee set up by parliament to monitor the implementation of measures to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic and to foster economic and social recovery.
