The measure was approved on Thursday by the cabinet and applied regardless of the incidence rate in the municipality where the tourist establishment or accommodation is located.

The access to tourist establishments and short-term rents throughout mainland Portugal will require a digital certificate or negative test by the customers.

The measure was approved on Thursday by the cabinet and applied regardless of the incidence rate in the municipality where the tourist establishment or accommodation is located.

“The requirement for testing in hotels nationwide,” said the minister of the presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, stressing that the measure does not cover children under 12 years of age.

The minister said the measure continues the strategy that has been taken to extend the use of the digital certificate or the requirement of a negative test.

The minister of economy, Pedro Siza Vieira, said that the digital certificate or test would have to be presented at check-in.
