TAP forecasts capacity to increase to 65% between July-September

“It is expected that the percentage of capacity, compared to the same period in 2019, will gradually increase to 34% in May, 49% in June and 65% for the months of July, August and September, a capacity in line with IATA’s moderate scenario,” reads an internal TAP newsletter to which Lusa had access.
In the document, signed by the TAP CEO, Ramiro Sequeira, the airline justified this possibility with the lifting of restrictive measures on passenger arrivals in Portugal.
According to data provided by the airline, there are now 14 countries whose passengers can travel to Portugal for leisure purposes – Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United Kingdom.
For June, TAP’s plan is to operate 117 weekly internal and island flights, 413 to European destinations, 40 to Africa, 37 to North America and 26 to Brazil.
In August, the company plans to operate over 862 flights per week, on a total of 96 routes.
However, this scenario may change depending on restrictions.
