Covid-19: 11,730 infected, death toll now at 311
The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Portugal rises to 11,730, a daily growth of 4%.
Portuguese health authorities found 452 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the number of people infected with the new coronavirus in the country from 11,278 to 11,730. This is a daily growth rate of about 4%, the lowest since the virus arrived in the country.
The data gathered by the Directorate General for Health (DGS) also show that the disease has caused the death of 16 people in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths caused by the pandemic in Portugal to 311 so far. Already 140 infected people have been reported to have recovered.
Among the most serious cases of the disease, 1,099 people are subject to hospitalisation and 270 are in intensive care units. In other words, the overwhelming majority of infected people, 86.6% of the total, are being medically monitored at home.
