BCP sinks 4% and drags Lisbon Stock Exchange
BCP fell 4% to two-year lows, dragging the Lisbon stock exchange.
Lisbon finished the first session of the week in the red zone, with several charts registering declines above 1%. One of the “heavyweights” of the stock market, the BCP, retreated more than 4%. On the other hand, contrary to the trend felt in the other listed companies, Cofina appreciated 4% after the announcement of a takeover bid to Media Capital.
The PSI-20, the main national index, fell 0.86% to 4,973.43 points. Of the 18 listed, the vast majority ended the session in red “terrain”, with falls of more than 1%. Only five listed indexes closed the session to appreciate, while one remained unchanged.
The index was penalized by sharp falls in the “heavyweights” of the stock market. The BCP slipped 4.09% to 0.1899 euros – minimums from 21 April 2017. The entire European banking sector was punished, with the Stoxx 600 Banks, which brings together the major European banks, falling 2.04%
Sonae Capital also fell 3.23% to 0.60 euros. Galp Energia also weighed down 1.26% to 13.75 euros, as did Pharol, which depreciated 1.61% to 0.11 euros.
Among the companies that closed the session with gains, Navigator, which advanced 0.50% to 3.22 euros, and EDP, which rose 0.29% to 3.51 euros, stand out.
