Emigrant remittances increase 14% to €323M in November
According to the data published on Monday by the Bank of Portugal, Portuguese emigrants sent €322.9 million in November 2018, which represents a 14% year-on-year increase.
Remittances from Portuguese emigrants increased 14% in November 2018, to €323 million, compared to the same month in 2017, surpassing by 6.3% the total of 2017, when December was still to be calculated.
According to the data published on Monday by the Bank of Portugal, Portuguese emigrants sent €322.9 million in November 2018, which represents a 14% increase compared to €282.4 million sent in November 2017.
Looking at the accumulated until November, the value for last year, €3.55 billion, already exceeded the 2017 total by 6.3%.
As usual, in November, Portuguese workers in France were the ones who contributed the most to the rise, sending €88.3 million, which represents a decline of 7.5%.
Regarding Portuguese-speaking African countries, remittances rose 6.2%, from €25.8 million in November 2017 to €27.4 million in the same month of 2018.
As usual, Angola is the largest place of origin, with €26.7 million, which is a 6.3% rise compared to the €25.1 million sent in November 2017.
