EDP Renováveis secures 15-year PPA in the USA

According to the Portuguese company, the project is expected to enter in operation by 2025.

EDP Renováveis has secured a power purchase agreement to sell clean energy produced by 180 megawatts from a wind project in Indiana, USA, which should enter in operation by 2025, the company announced on Tuesday.

In a statement released to the Portuguese Securities and Exchange Commission (CMVM), the electric company said it has “secured a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (“PPA”) to sell the green energy produced by 180 MW from a 200 MW wind project in the state of Indiana, United States of America (“USA”).”

“The project is expected to enter in operation by 2025,” the company adds. With this new project, EDP Renováveis says it has “now 11.0 GW secured out of the 20 GW target additions for 2021-2025.”

Additionally, this transaction allows EDPR to secure more than 50% of the 8.8 GW target of renewable capacity additions in North America during 2021-25.
