This measure foresees that new licences are not allowed in parishes where the number of dwellings allocated to local accommodation is equal to or greater than 2.5% of the housing stock.

The City Council of Lisbon has extended the suspension of new local accommodation registrations in 11 parishes of the capital, Expresso reports. The measure is in force for another six months and had the approval of the Socialist Party (PS), Left Bloc (BE), Livre, Communist Party (PCP) and independent city councillor Paula Marques. The Social Democratic Party (PSD) and People’s Party (CDS) voted against it.

This measure foresees that new licences are not allowed in parishes where the number of dwellings allocated to local accommodation is equal to or greater than 2.5% of the housing stock. In question are 11 parishes, according to the same newspaper. There are four more parishes above this ratio, but where the prohibition already existed before this measure.

The Socialist Party (PS), Left Bloc (BE) and Livre signed this proposal, and with this decision, only nine parishes will not be affected by this suspension.
