Colep Packaging acquires 40% stake in ALM

The Portuguese packaging company, which belongs to the RAR group, has a turnover of €119 million and employs around 700 people.

Colep Packaging has acquired a 40% stake in ALM Envases, a aluminium aerosols provider from Spain. Without giving any details of the amount invested, the company said that this operation will allow it to “broaden its aluminium portfolio and strengthen its packaging solutions offer”.

Owned 100% by the RAR Group, the company based in Vale de Cambra was founded over half a century ago and specialising in metal and plastic packaging, it has an annual turnover of €119 million and employs around 700 people in Portugal, Poland and Spain.

“This acquisition represents an important moment in our growth strategy, aligned with the ambition to enlarge the packaging solutions of our company. This is one more step in our strategic implementation that allows us to have a more effective answer to the market and a stronger partnership with our customers,” said Paulo Sousa, CEO of Colep Packaging.

Also quoted in a press release, David Massanet, general manager of ALM, based in Barcelona and focused on aluminium packaging solutions for the food, beverages, cosmetics, personal care and household industries, says he believes that ALM, together with Colep Packaging, “will guarantee a more robust business, gaining competitiveness and increasing the value of our business in the future.”

In the summer of 2021, Colep split its businesses into two different entities: Colep Packaging and Colep Consumer Products.
