EDP Renováveis secures PPAs for a solar portfolio in the US

At issue are three projects in the United States, whose operations are not expected to begin until 2024.

EDP Renováveis (EDPR) has secured PPAs to sell clean energy for a 425 MWac solar portfolio in the United States, according to a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM).

“EDP – Energias de Portugal, S.A. (“EDP”), through its 74.98% owned subsidiary EDP Renováveis, S.A. (“EDPR”), has secured Power Purchase Agreements (“PPAs”) to sell the green energy produced by a 425 MWac solar portfolio in the US,” the company announced. 

At stake are three projects in the United States, whose operation should only begin in 2024, one of 175 MWac in Mississippi County, Arkansas; 100 MWac in Madison County, Mississippi; and 150 MWac in Randolph County, Indiana.

EDP also reveals that with this operation it intends to “increase its technological diversification with 4.2 GW of secured capacity in Solar and an overall secured capacity of 9.3 GW for 2021- 25”. But also reinforce its “low-risk profile” and “growth strategy based on the development of competitive projects with long-term visibility, fostering the acceleration of the energy transition and the decarbonization of the economy”.
