Portugal sees 14,595 new cases, 19 Covid-19 deaths in last 24 hours

The number of active Covid-19 cases increased on Wednesday to 478,344, up 3,176 from Tuesday, and in the past 24 hours, 11,400 people have been reported recovered.

Portugal has recorded 14,595 new infections with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the last 24 hours, 19 more deaths associated with Covid-19 and a decrease in hospitalisations onwards, the health authority (DGS) said on Wednesday.

According to the DGS daily epidemiological bulletin, 1,174 people are hospitalised this Wednesday, 51 less than on Tuesday, while in intensive care units there are now 72 patients, six less than the previous day, although not all hospitalisations are due to Covid-19, and may be caused by other pathologies despite the existence of infection with SARS-CoV-2.
