Country sees 5,606 new cases, 17 Covid-19 deaths in last 24 hours

The number of active cases was down on Monday to 472,781, 5,367 fewer than on Sunday, and 10,956 people were reported recovered in the past 24 hours, for a total of 2,843,809 since the pandemic began.

Portugal has recorded 5,606 new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, 17 more deaths associated with Covid-19 and an increase in hospitalisations, the health authority (DGS) said on Monday.

According to the DGS daily epidemiological bulletin, 1,250 people are hospitalised this Monday, 42 more than on Sunday, while in intensive care units there are now 81 patients, one less than the previous day, although not all hospitalisations are due to Covid-19, and may be due to other pathologies despite the existence of infection with SARS-CoV-2.
