It is no longer necessary for a person to be tested "to access major events, sports venues, bars, and nightclubs."

By lifting some restrictions, the government has reduced the situations in which it is necessary to present a negative test to Covid-19. Now, It is no longer necessary for a person to be tested “to access major events, sports venues, bars, and nightclubs.”

In a statement from this Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, António Costa’s government also announced that the requirement for a negative test will remain, except for certificates proving that the person has been fully vaccinated with a booster dose or has recently recovered from Covid-19, in these situations:

  • Nursing homes;
  • Visits to patients hospitalised in health care establishments.

At the Infarmed meeting on Wednesday, experts considered that the conditions are in place to reduce the more restrictive measures, but argued that “vigilance must be maintained”.
