This round, led by Shilling Founders Fund (Portugal) and Heartcore Capital (Denmark), will serve to expand the K12 platform, created in 2020 by Portuguese Frederico Bello, globally.
The K12 platform Luca has raised a pre-seed investment round of €2.7 million. This round, led by Shilling Founders Fund (Portugal) and Heartcore Capital (Denmark), “will help Luca speed up its mission in providing broad access to quality K12 education, globally”.

As our first market, we are targeting the Spanish speaking Latin American market, the 3rd largest market by a number of k12 students with over 100 million students, and the most impacted by the pandemic,” the startup’s founder said in a statement.
Shilling Founders Fund (Portugal) and Heartcore Capital (Denmark) led the investment round, which also included the participation of tier 1 Business Angels such as Juan Romero (former CEO of Pearson Latam), Hugo Arevalo (Co-Founder & President of Power MBA), Gonzalo Manrique (Founder & CEO of Ironhack), Diogo Mónica (Founder & CEO of Anchorage), Vasco Pedro (Founder & CEO of Unbabel Co) and Brian Requarth (Founder & CEO of VivaReal and Latitud Latam).
“Frederico’s vision and purpose help us, as investors, see Luca’s business as an impactful one. We believe in better education and we strongly believe that Luca can have a big role in this vision,” explains Miguel Santo Amaro, partner at Shilling Founders Fund and member of Luca’s board of directors.
