The asset manager expects dividend payouts to reach record levels in 2022. Companies in the MSCI Europe Index are expected to distribute around €410 billion to shareholders this year on account of last year’s results, up 8% on the previous year.

“In contrast to the economic backdrop, dividend payouts in 2021 showed a pronounced V-shaped development,” explains Jörg de Vries-Hippen, Head of Equities Europe Investments at Allianz Global Investors.

“At around €378 billion, payouts in 2021 have almost returned to the upward trend through 2019 and are likely to remain on an upward trend in 2022 to a new record level of around €410 billion,” he added.

The dividend season will take place in a few months after companies submit their results for 2021.
