Portugal may have reached the peak of fifth wave of Covid-19 pandemic
The Portuguese Medical Association expects that, at the end of this month, the whole resident population in Portugal will already have some type of immunity, whether natural or due to vaccination.
Portugal should reach the peak of the fifth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic between Thursday and Monday. The number of daily infections may soon reach 50,000 cases, according to the Portuguese Medical Association (OM) and the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), as reported by Público.
The OM’s perspective is that lethality will continue to increase during this month, “but will not exceed 35 to 40 deaths, seven days from now”.
The OM’s President also foresees that, at the end of this month, the whole resident population in Portugal will already have some type of immunity, whether natural or due to vaccination.
