Portugal sees 24 Covid-19 deaths, 4,644 new cases in last 24 hours

The daily epidemiological bulletin of the DGS counts 943 people hospitalised on Friday, nine less than on Thursday, of whom 147 are in intensive care units, 11 less in the last 24 hours.

Portugal on Friday recorded 24 more deaths associated with Covid-19, 4,644 more infections with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and a slight reduction in hospital admissions, said the national health authority (DGS).

The daily epidemiological bulletin of the DGS counts 943 people hospitalised on Friday, nine less than on Thursday, of whom 147 are in intensive care units, 11 less in the last 24 hours.

According to data from the health authority, three deaths were registered in the age group between 50 to 59, with the remaining deaths in the age groups from 60 to 69 (three), from 70 to 79 (six) and the elderly over 80 (12).

Of the 24 deaths, eight occurred in the North, another eight in the Centre, five in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, two in the Alentejo and one in the Algarve.
