The country will receive around 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine for children until next March.

Portugal will receive roughly 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine for children until next March, Health Minister Marta Temido told Público.

The Prime minister had already announced that the first batch of 300,000 vaccines will arrive next week and another 462,000 doses should arrive in January. Between February and March, Portugal will receive a further 400,000 doses each month.

In question are 638,000 children eligible for vaccination between the age of 5 and 11 years, and the schedule and how the process will take place will be announced this Friday by the DGS. The vaccination of these age groups with Pfizer’s vaccine was approved by the European regulator in late November, and the dose to be administered to children will be lower than the one given to adults.
