Portugal's employers' confederations announced they were willing to resume the Social Concertation plan, namely the increase of the national minimum wage in 2022.
Portugal’s employers’ confederations said on Tuesday they were willing to resume the Social Concertation plan, namely the increase of the national minimum wage in 2022.
“The Confederation of Farmers of Portugal (CAP), the Confederation of Trade and Services of Portugal (CCP), the Business Confederation of Portugal (CIP), the Confederation of Tourism of Portugal (CTP), following the hearing with the president of Portugal and the recent meeting with the prime minister are willing to resume, within the current political context, the agenda of work of the Standing Committee on Social Dialogue (CPCS), namely the discussion on increasing the minimum wage for next year,” said a statement on the joint position of the four employer confederations issued today.
However, CAP, CCP, CIP and CTP said that for a practical discussion of the update of the minimum wage, “the government must present the economic fundamentals that support that proposal.
The government will propose to the social partners an increase of the minimum wage from the current €665 to €705 in 2022, as the Prime Minister, António Costa confirmed on Monday in an interview to RTP1.
