In a statement, the Kantar group said the new skills centre is expected to start operations in the first half of 2022.

A British marketing, analytics and brand consulting services group will create a regional skills centre in Porto, in an investment of about €4.3 million, which is expected to employ 200 people by the end of 2022.

In a statement, the Kantar group said the new skills centre is expected to start operations in the first half of 2022.

The regional skills centre, which represents an investment of around €4.3 million, is expected to employ “around 200 professionals and recent graduates in the group’s finance, human resources and procurement areas” by the end of next year.

In the future, the English group aims to extend the Porto skills centre to professionals in the technology area.

The city’s “recent success in attracting and expanding several skills centres” was, according to the note released on Tuesday, one of the key factors for choosing Porto for the creation of this centre, along with the “multilingual talent supply, together with the technological infrastructure and the city’s growing innovative ecosystem”.

“Over the past two years, Kantar has embarked on a journey of profound transformation. Our investment in Porto is a key step in that direction, ensuring adequate support capabilities for the exceptional service that is expected by our clients and stakeholders. I am excited about the development of these new skills in Porto, which will support our growth ambitions,” said Ian Griffiths, the deputy CEO and CFO of Kantar, quoted in the statement.

Quoted in the statement, the councillor responsible for Economy, Tourism and Commerce at Porto City Council, Ricardo Valente, believes that the decision was taken by the Kantar group “demonstrates well the quality of the talent and ecosystem that the city offers today”.

“The new highly qualified jobs that will be created by a world-leading company like Kantar represent a great opportunity for the development of the city,” he added.

Of English origin, the group which employs 27,000 workers worldwide, providing services to clients in more than 90 countries, last year recorded a turnover of more than €2.5 billion.
