Microsoft studying ‘potential opening’ of new office outside Lisbon
"We are looking at other locations for potential opening of another Microsoft office in Portugal and therefore looking at possibilities for a new location from Lisbon," said Microsoft Portugal.
The director-general of Microsoft Portugal, Paula Panarra, on Tuesday said that they were studying other locations for the potential opening of a new office outside Lisbon, where they already have two, but did not give any dates.
Panarra was speaking to journalists during a virtual meeting via Teams this morning.
“We are clearly looking at other locations for potential opening of another Microsoft office in Portugal and therefore looking at possibilities for a new location from Lisbon,” the CEO began by saying.
“We believe that we can further open the range of possibilities and (…) I think that more and more companies will also take advantage of these hybrid working models to create more decentralised and delocalised employment opportunities and attract people from other regions of the country beyond the main urban centres,” Paula Panarra added.
“We are talking about a study that we are going to start to see the possibilities of expanding Microsoft,” she said when asked about the issue.
About whether there was a date for a decision to be made, she said that when a decision about the office had been made, they would tell everyone.
She also said that there was still no information about the size of the office, stressing that there were studies being conducted on that question.
