Portuguese startup Cleverly.ai, which provides artificial intelligence-based solutions, has been acquired by Denmark's Zendesk.

The Portuguese startup Cleverly.ai was bought by the Danish Zendesk, which was founded in Copenhagen but is based in San Francisco (USA). With this acquisition, the company seeks to grow its customer service capabilities. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Cleverly and Zendesk want to democratize AI, so companies can create practical applications that make it possible for businesses to get started with AI right out of the box — without a team of data scientists required,” said Zendesk’s Shawna Wolverton, quoted by Tech Crunch.

“With Cleverly, we will deliver a range of capabilities that automate key insights, further reduce manual tasks and improve workflows, and overall lead to happier, more productive support teams,” she added.

Founded in 2019, Cleverly is based in Lisbon and has already received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 innovation programme. The Portuguese startup offers a wide range of features based on Artificial Intelligence technology, including a triage function that automatically marks information requests, helping to categorise workflow.

Clevery’s technology is already integrated into companies such as Zendesk itself, Salesforce, Freshdesk and Interom.

According to Wolverton, Zendesk will welcome the Cleverly team next Monday, the 30th, including founders Cristina Fonseca and Pedro Coelho.
