From PSI-20 to PSI. Euronext changes the name of the Portuguese Stock Index
The Lisbon Stock Exchange's main index is going to change its name. The designation PSI-20 will disappear and will be renamed PSI.
the Lisbon stock exchange’s main index will change its name. In a statement, Euronext announced that the PSI-20 will be renamed just PSI in March 2022, on the occasion of the annual index review.
Euronext also announced that the PSI methodology will be adjusted, which will “include determining a minimum size for companies to enter the index at the time of the quarterly and annual reviews (free float market capitalisation of €100 million) and removing the requirement for a minimum number of constituents.”
These modifications were carried out “with the objective of determining the best outcome for all market participants and stakeholders”, and are the result of “an extensive public consultation process that was open to stakeholders including Portuguese and international users of the index,” the Euronext said.
Launched on December 31, 1992 with an initial quotation of 3,000 points, the PSI-20 – currently at 5,212.34 points – marks three decades of existence next year. Euronext ensures that it will continue “to act as the benchmark measure of the performance of the leading companies listed on the Portuguese market.”
