Retail sales in Portugal up 15.4% in May YoY – Eurostat
According to the European statistics office, the volume of retail trade increased by 9.0% in the euro area and 9.2% in the EU compared to the same month of 2020.
Retail sales in Portugal accelerated in May by 15.4% year-on-year and by 3.9% quarter-on-quarter reports Eurostat on Tuesday.
According to the European statistics office, the volume of retail trade increased by 9.0% in the euro area and 9.2% in the EU compared to the same month of 2020, and compared to April, it advanced by 4.6% in both.
The volume of retail trade increased compared to May 2020 in all Member States for which data are available – except Germany, where it retreated by 0.9%, – with the largest rises recorded in Bulgaria (23.9%), Ireland (22.4%) and Malta (22.0%).
In the monthly comparison, the largest increases in the volume of retail trade were observed in France (9.9%), the Netherlands (9.3%) and Estonia (8.1%), while decreases were recorded in Latvia (-3.9%), Finland (-3.3%) and Luxembourg (-0.7%).
