Portuguese flag-carrier TAP has started operations between Lisbon and North Africa, with flights to Agadir and Oujda, in Morocco, and Monastir and Djerba, in Tunisia, as part of the carrier’s recovery plan, it announced on Monday.

According to a statement sent to newsrooms, “in recent days,” the airline “inaugurated four routes that will operate between Lisbon and North Africa: Agadir and Oujda, in Morocco, and Monastir and Djerba, in Tunisia.”

“The launch of these routes is part of TAP’s recovery plan and the progressive resumption and growth of its activity, with the strengthening of the company’s position in North Africa, extending its offer to four important tourist destinations in the region, which are in high demand throughout Europe,” TAP’s chief executive officer (CEO), Christine Ourmières-Widener, said in the same statement.

Tunisia will become part of the airline’s network and, in the case of Morocco, two new destinations will be added to the three already existing there (Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangiers).

The airline also added that tickets for these routes bought until July 31 can be changed free of charge up to three days before departure.

In March, TAP announced eight new Europe  and Africasummer routes to Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Santiago de Compostela, Zagreb, Djerba, Agadir, Monastir and Oujda.
