The prime minister was in self-isolation after an encounter with a member of his cabinet, who tested positive for Covid-19.

António Costa will no longer need to be in self-isolation. The Portuguese prime minister has tested negative for Covid-19, after taking another PCR test. The country’s health authorities approved the end of his quarantine, that lasted for five days.

“After a new PCR test determined by the health authorities was performed and the result was again negative, the health authorities authorised the resumption of the Prime Minister’s face-to-face activity and, as such, of his public schedule,” the statement from the prime minister’s office indicated.

Last Wednesday, health authorities indicated that prime minister António Costa would have to self-isolate, after being in contact with a member of his cabinet who tested positive for Covid-19.
