Finerge strengthens wind portfolio, will have the most powerful onshore turbine in Portugal
Finerge acquired WTG and its renewable energy portfolio, which includes a combined capacity of 28.35 MW, spread across a total of 25 wind generators.
Finerge announced this Friday the acquisition of the Portuguese company WTG and its renewable energy portfolio, which includes three wind farms in the areas of Arouca (Alto do Côto) and Mação (Serra da Amêndoa and Serra da Lage), with a combined capacity of 28.35 MW, spread across a total of 25 wind generators.
This portfolio will soon include the wind turbine with the highest capacity in Portugal because one of the acquired wind farms – Serra da Lage – is currently undergoing a repowering that will be completed in the next few days. As a result of this intervention, the total installed capacity of the wind farm will be replaced by a single 4.2 MW Vestas V150 turbine, “the largest capacity installed by a single turbine in Portugal, onshore,” says Finerge.

This 4.2 MW turbine is one of the largest installed in the country and signals our commitment to using cutting-edge technology to contribute to achieving the PNEC targets, with the least possible environmental impact,” says Pedro Norton, Finerge’s CEO, in a statement.
Founded in 1996, Finerge is the second-largest producer of renewable energy in Portugal and the sixth-largest wind power operator in the Iberian Peninsula.
Through 659 wind turbines installed at its 53 wind farms and 16 solar photovoltaic plants in Portugal and Spain, Finerge currently has an installed capacity of 1339 MW, producing around 2384 GWh per year.
