The race for the possible sale of the former Portugal Telecom may include the KKR fund, which owned Nowo and Oni Telecom.

Altice Europe is studying the sale of former Portugal Telecom (PT), a deal that could be worth between €6 and 7 billion. Altice Portugal is the largest operator in the Portuguese market and there are several potential candidates, according to Expresso newspaper. Orange and MásMóvil may be in the running.

France’s Orange was already a partner of NOS, of the KKR fund, which owned Nowo and Oni Telecom, while Spain’s MásMóvil is the new owner of Nowo and one of the companies that bought spectrum in the 5G auction. There will also be another possibility for this sale, which are the funds, namely KKR.

In this operation, which is not yet confirmed by Altice, all scenarios will be on the table, including the partial sale of assets or maintaining the current situation. Even so, Patrick Drahi, chairman of the group, has already mandated Lazard to test the sale of the former PT, as revealed previously by ECO.
