EDPR entered the Italian wind market in 2010 and so far has an operational capacity of 271 MW in Italy, with a further 200 MW under development.

EDP Renováveis (EDPR) on Tuesday announced the commissioning of the Serracapriola wind farm in Italy, bringing the company’s operational capacity in that country to 299 megawatts (MW).

In a statement, EDPR highlights that it was “one of the first companies to connect to the grid a park from the Italian public auction in October 2019.”

Located in the Apulia region in southern Italy, in Serracapriola, in the province of Foggia, the park has seven wind turbines and an installed capacity of 28 MW.

According to EDPR, this project “consolidates the operation” of the company in Italy and “reinforces the energy transition effort of that country planned for the next decade”.

In early 2021, EDP Renováveis won a 44 MW lot in another Italian auction, which is expected to be operational in 2022.

EDPR entered the Italian wind market in 2010 and so far has an operational capacity of 271 MW in Italy, with a further 200 MW under development.

In addition to EDPR’s presence, the EDP group has recently entered the Italian market with the sale of energy and distributed solar, having already acquired this year an Italian solar company – Enertel – which provides solar energy self-consumption solutions.
