Health authority reports 252 more Covid-19 deaths, 6,923 new cases

The number of people infected with coronavirus continues to increase and, in the last 24 hours, there have been 6,923 new cases.

Portugal’s national health authority, the DGS, on Monday reported 252 more deaths associated with Covid-19, and 6,923 new confirmed cases of infection with the novel coronavirus that causes it.

The day’s epidemiological bulletin also shows 6,420 people as in hospital with the disease – 303 more than the previous day – a new record, with 767 of those in intensive care units, or 25 more.

Since the start of the pandemic, Portugal has had 10,721 deaths associated with Covid-19 and 643,113 confirmed cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

According to the latest bulletin, there were 170,635 active cases, or 1,405 more than a day earlier.
