Saudi Arabian’s former CEO on short list to lead TAP

With a career in the aviation sector of over 40 years, Jaan Albrecht Binderberger is on the short-list of names selected by consultancy Korn Ferry to lead the Portuguese airline.

Saudi Arabian Airlines’ former CEO, Jaan Albrecht Binderberger, is on the short-list of names selected by consultant Korn Ferry to lead TAP airline. The list was handed over to the government at the end of last year, according to the Jornal Económico.

“Albrecht Binderberger is on the short-list of names selected by Korn Ferry and handed over to the government that will choose the new CEO,” a source close to the investigation told the Jornal Económico. Asked by the same newspaper about the manager’s name and when the German would start working, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing, which handles the TAP dossier, did not reply.

With a career in the aviation sector of over 40 years, the German has taken over the Saudi airline from 2017 until the beginning of 2020. He is currently an independent advisor to the company’s president, Ibrahim Koshy, in a position for which he was elected for the period 2020-2022. In addition, the manager and former pilot has held several management positions in Mexicana de Aviación and for 10 years has been the CEO of Star Alliance.
