Portugal reports second-highest day of Covid-19 cases

The number of people infected with coronavirus continues to increase and, in the last 24 hours, there have been 9,927 new cases.

There are 9,927 new cases of coronavirus compared to Wednesday, bringing the total number of people infected with the disease to 456,333. It is the second biggest daily increase in cases since the beginning of the pandemic. 95 people have died in the last 24 hours, according to the latest official report of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

Of the total number of people infected with the new coronavirus, most are undergoing treatment at home, with 3,333 inpatients, 514 of them in intensive care units. There are over 100,000 under the surveillance of the health authorities.

Since it was detected in Portugal at the beginning of March, the coronavirus has caused the death of 7,472 people, 95 of them in the last 24 hours
