Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa tested negative for Coronavirus, after being in contact with a member of Casa Civil infected with the disease.

The President of Portugal will not have to stay in self-isolation after he received two negative test results for Covid-19 and, therefore, the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) considered that the contact between Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and the infected member of the Civil House was low risk, according to SIC Notícias.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was with the infected person on Monday for a short period of time and has already carried out two tests and in both the result was negative. For that reason, DGS concluded that there is no risk for the President.

The country’s President was awaiting instructions from the health authorities to attend this Wednesday’s debate with the leader of Chega, André Ventura, for the presidential elections, scheduled for January 24.
