Portugal's PM has said that he will announce on Saturday the measures for Christmas "with the best possible conditions", but warned that "New Year's Eve will have all the restrictions."

Portugal’s prime minister, António Costa, has said that he will announce on Saturday the measures for Christmas “with the best possible conditions”, but warned that “New Year’s Eve will have all the restrictions.”

“The government proposed to the President who has accepted that this time, when we announce the renewal of the state of emergency, we can announce not only the measures for the next fortnight but also the measures for the following fortnight, that is, until 6, 7 January”, António Costa revealed on Tuesday in an interview to the Observatory radio.

According to the prime minister, “it is essential that people can have an early idea of what Christmas is going to be like”, and this week will be decisive for the decision on those measures, which he will announce next Saturday.

He also said that “we are all going to make the effort to have Christmas in the best possible conditions, but right after that, there is one thing that I can tell you right now, and that is that the end of the year will have all the restrictions because there cannot be any kind of tolerance there.”
