3,919 new cases and 85 deaths by Covid-19 in Portugal

The number of people infected with coronavirus continues to increase and, in the last 24 hours, there have been 3,919 new cases.

There are 3,919 new cases of coronavirus compared to Monday, bringing the total number of people infected with the disease to 268,721. 85 people have died in the last 24 hours, according to the latest official report of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

The new cases of Covid-19 fell compared to the previous day, with almost half of the 3,919 being registered in the Northern region, followed by Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, with 1,467 new contagions in the last 24 hours, before the new state of emergency measures came into effect.

Of the total number of people infected with the new coronavirus, most are undergoing treatment at home, with 3,275 inpatients, 506 of them in intensive care units. There are over 65,000 under the surveillance of the health authorities.

Since it was detected in Portugal at the beginning of March, the coronavirus has caused the death of 4,056 people, 85 of them in the last 24 hours.
