4,096 new cases and 63 deaths by Covid-19 in Portugal

The number of people infected with coronavirus continues to increase and, in the last 24 hours, there have been 4,096 new cases.

There are 4,096 new cases of coronavirus compared to Sunday, bringing the total number of people infected with the disease to 183,420. 63 people have died in the last 24 hours, according to the latest official report of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

There are now 78,378 people fighting the disease. As in recent weeks, the majority of new cases have been registered in the Northern region. Of the 4,096 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours, 2,265 are located in this region (55%), followed by the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, which recorded 1,217 new infections (29.7%).

Of the total number of people infected with the new coronavirus, most are undergoing treatment at home, with 2,651 inpatients, 391 of them in intensive care units. There are over 65,000 under the surveillance of the health authorities.

Since it was detected in Portugal at the beginning of March, the coronavirus has caused the death of 2,959 people, 63 of them in the last 24 hours.
