Encouraging the introduction of low emission vehicles will remain valid for both cars and motorbikes and bicycles. The funding is 4 million euros.

The government will continue to support the purchase of electric vehicles over the next year. The incentive to buy low emission vehicles will remain valid for both cars and motorbikes and bicycles.

“Under the climate action measures, the incentive for zero-emission vehicles, financed by the Environmental Fund, is maintained, under the terms to be defined by order of the government member responsible for the areas of environment and climate action,” refers to the preliminary version of the State Budget proposal for 2021 obtained by ECO.

“The incentive provided for in the preceding paragraph shall be extended to two-wheeled motorbikes and bicycles and to electric mopeds which have European type approval and are subject to registration, where applicable, except for those classified as enduro, trial or sidecar.” Like this year, the “incentive provided for in the previous paragraph is still extended to cargo bicycles.”

This year’s state aid received 4 million euros of funding, a number that Matos Fernandes, the Minister for the Environment, had already revealed would continue.

The country established a government subsidy of 3,000 euros for the purchase of electric cars with a value of up to 62,500 euros, while companies can obtain four incentives with a value of 2,000 euros.

With electric motorbikes and bicycles, the subsidy is equivalent to 50% of the purchase value, up to a maximum of 350 euros.
