Covid-19 claims 10 more lives; 770 new cases until Thursday

Portugal has registered 1,888 deaths and 66,396 cases of the infection since the beginning of the pandemic.

Portugal has had 10 more deaths related to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours and 770 new cases of infection with coronavirus, according to the health authorities (DGS) epidemiological bulletin on Thursday.

The DGS said five deaths have been registered in the Northern region, two in Lisbon and Tagus Valley, two in the Central region and one in the Algarve.

There are 37,804 contacts under surveillance, 517 more than on Wednesday.

The number of cases is the highest since 16 April, when there were 750.

As for the deaths, this is the highest number since 3 July, when 11 deaths were registered in Portugal due to Covid-19.

The data also indicates that 480 people with Covid-19 are in hospital (two less than on Wednesday), of which 59 (two fewer) are in intensive care units.
