687 new cases and three more deaths by Covid-19 in Portugal

The number of cases of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 62,813. To date, 43,644 people have recovered from the disease.

There are 687 new cases of coronavirus compared to Tuesday, bringing the total number of people infected with the disease to 62,813. Three people have died in the last 24 hours. The Lisbon and Tagus Valley region continues to concentrate the largest number of new infections, with 53% of the total.

This is the highest daily increase since April 16, when 750 new cases of infection were reported. Among the cases, 17,314 are now active, 481 more than the previous day. Since it appeared in Portugal at the beginning of March, the coronavirus has caused the death of 1,855 people.

The Lisbon region concentrates most of the new infections. Of the 687 new cases registered in the last 24 hours, 368 were in this region: 53.5% of the total.

Of the total number of infected, most are undergoing treatment at home, with only 404 inpatients, 54 of them in intensive care units. There are more than 35,000 under the surveillance of the health authorities.
