Unemployment in Portugal rises to 7% in June
According to the Statistics Portugal (INE), Portugal's unemployment rate rose to 7% in June, up 1.1 percentage points from the previous month.
Portugal’s unemployment rate rose to 7% in June, up 1.1 percentage points from the previous month and 0.4 percentage points more than in the same month of 2019, according to provisional data released on Wednesday.
According to the Statistics Portugal (INE), the employed population in June (also provisional data) registered variations of 0.1% compared to the previous month and -3.6% compared to the same month of 2019.
Also today, the INE revised up the May unemployment rate to 5.9% (provisional data last month pointed to 5.5%), 0.4 percentage points less than the previous month and 0.7 points less than a year ago.
