Number of Covid-19 cases increases 0.8%. Death toll at 973
The number of people infected with coronavirus in the country has increased to 24,505. There are now 973 deaths.
Portuguese health authorities have identified 183 new cases of Covid-19, raising the number of people infected with the new coronavirus in the country from 24,322 to 24,505. This is a daily growth rate of 0.8%, which is the second lowest since the beginning of the outbreak in the country.
In the last 24 hours a further 25 people have died, bringing the number of deaths from the disease from 948 to 973. The data revealed this Wednesday by the Directorate General of Health (DGS) also shows that 1,470 people have recovered from Covid-19 in Portugal.
DGS data also show that 980 patients with Covid-19 are currently hospitalized, 169 of which in intensive care units. The majority of deaths were in the age group 70 and above, considered one of the risk groups.
