The Portuguese company will suspend activity at the Sines refinery during a month due to lack of demand during the Pandemic.

Galp will suspend activity at the Sines refinery from May 4th for about a month, due to the impossibility of selling “the products produced” following the Pandemic.

Galp justifies the decision with “the evolution of the situation resulting from the extension of the state of emergency,” which imposed “extreme containment measures, increasingly restrictive quarantines and the paralysis of most economic activities.

These measures created “severe operational restrictions”, which led to “interruptions in the supply chain because it was not possible to dispose of the products produced”.

The company recalls that this “planned adjustment” has also led to the suspension of activity at the Matosinhos refinery, Porto district.

Galp also guarantees that this stoppage “will have no impact on the people attached to Galp’s refinery” and that the supply of market needs is “assured”.
