Cases of Covid-19 rise to 18,841. Death toll at 629
Portugal confirmed another 750 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, registering a total of 18,841 patients.
The number of people infected with coronavirus in the country has risen to 18,841. In just 24 hours, 750 new cases were confirmed, the Directorate General for Health (DGS) announced this Thursday. There are 30 more deaths due to the virus, with the number of deaths rising to 629.
As for the new cases, this is an increase of 4.5% over the previous day, confirming that the coronavirus curve has flattened as was announced by the health authorities earlier today.
The North is still the most punished region of the country: more than 11 thousand cases and 355 deaths registered until yesterday. It accounts for around 60% of all infections and 56% of all deaths from the Covid-19 pandemic. It is followed by the regions of Lisbon (4,237 infected people and 115 deaths) and Centro (2,756 cases and 146 deaths).
Of the 18,841 people infected with the new coronavirus, the majority are recovering at home. 1,302 people are hospitalized, 229 of whom are in intensive care units.
