In March, Lisbon lost 29% of its turnover (4.7 million) and Porto 15% (800 thousand euros). In total, these two cities lost 5.5 million euros. This scenario could get worse in April.
Covid-19 is causing deep breaks in the short-term lease. Just in March, Lisbon lost 29% of its turnover (4.7 million) and Porto 15% (800,000 euros). In these two cities, which are the national destinations most represented in the Airbnb, the loss was of 5.5 million in homologous terms, according to the Público newspaper.
After vigorous growth in January and February, March saw a sharp drop in demand – property supply remained almost unchanged – as a result of restrictions on movement of people to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
According to data from Airbnb, the month of April tends to be worse, since on the second day of the month, a drop of 61% was already certain in Lisbon and 48% in Porto, when compared to last year.
